Who Mentors are

MPOWER Mentors are student leaders who passionately share their knowledge with fellow international students to help them succeed in their professional endeavors. They enjoy helping others who are experiencing similar situations as they once did.

Mentors participate in training sessions to foster the necessary skills and knowledge for them to have positive and meaningful interactions with their mentees.

Who Mentees are

MPOWER Mentees are current borrowers who seek to improve their career prospects by learning from the experience of other international students who faced similar challenges. They’ll get advice and guidance so they get the most out of their experience living, studying and working in the U.S.

Mentees attend monthly enrichment sessions to discuss and learn about topics related to career readiness and professional development from the unique viewpoint of an international student who is studying in the U.S.

“Show me a successful individual and I’ll show you someone who had real positive influences in his or her life. I don’t care what you do for a living—if you do it well I’m sure there was someone cheering you on or showing the way. A mentor.
