How to Apply to Canadian Universities

Introduction about “studying in canada”

Choosing to study abroad is an important life decision that can change your future. Studying in Canada could be the right choice for many international students. Canada has so many great universities, and a large international student population, over 700,000, could be an exciting new adventure!

1. Choose you College and Course

Once you’ve decided to study abroad in Canada, it’s time to choose your college and course of study. When choosing a college there are many factors to consider.

  • Do you want a school in a big city or one more rural?
  • Do you want a private or public university?
  • How many international students are at this university?
  • Are you eligible to apply?

Choosing your course of study is an important decision that can lead to your dream career. Here are a few questions to consider when picking a course:

  • What are your main interests?
  • What kind of career are you hoping to obtain after graduation?
  • How long do you plan to go to college for?

2. Language requirements for Canada

Depending on where in Canada you choose to study, international students have to prove language proficiency in either French or English. To gain admittance, many, but not all, English-language universities require that you achieve a certain score on an English-language exam. French-language universities may judge on a case-by-case basis.

3. Documents Required and Application Process

Each university will have its own specific requirements, but in general, here are the documents required for your application:

  • A completed application form
  • Resume/CV
  • Graduation certificate/diploma
  • A letter of intent
  • Financial documents to support your studies
  • Two letters of recommendation

University Application Deadlines (may vary by school)

  • Winter enrollment: September 1st deadline
  • Summer enrollment: January 15th deadline

We recommend that you check each university’s website for the most updated information on application deadlines and requirements. In order to have the best possible chance of admission, it is important to submit your application 8 to 12 months before the enrollment date.
